Dance of the Goblins
The first book of the Goblin series, Dance of the Goblins, is a
fantasy story concerning the prejudices and conflicts between a race of
goblins who live under the human world, and the humans that do not realise
that in fact, all of the legendary creatures such as fairies and mermaids
are actually various species' of goblins who trace their ancestry back to
the humans themselves, but have adapted to conditions when planetary
cataclysms have trapped whole civilisations underground.
The goblins live in an anarchic society which has no rank, yet respect is
given to the old and wise Haghuf, who keeps underground and despises humans…until
he is drawn to the surface by the Dance and meets a human, Count Anton, who joins
with him in this sacred celebration. The Dance is the spiritual exaltation of
life itself and is central to the goblins' existence.
The friendship that develops between Haghuf and Count Anton will play a crucial
role in an inescapable conflict between humans and goblins, complicated by the
love of a goblin woman which will threaten to destroy the peace they have known
for many centuries.
